GI - the Fun Just Never Ends LP: Lineup: John Stabb - vocals / Tom Lyle - guitar / Lenny Leonard - bass / Marc Alberstadt - drums Recording Info: Recorded July 1984 and Feb. 1985 at CBGB, Hit and Run, and Black Pond. Engineered by Barbara Milne, Steve Carr, Tom Scott. Remixed by Tom Scott. Produced by Government Issue Notes: Reviews: The sound is kinda weedy throughout, but I really like this record. Maybe it's the fact that they were playing live, but it just sounds like they were having a hell of a good time with this--and it's the sheer joy the band brought to music (exemplified best by Legless Bull) that attracted me to them in the first place. This is my third fave GI record (Boycott being second, and Legless being first), and something I never get tired of listening to. Oh yeah, and World Caved In is one of the worst songs GI ever put on vinyl. Everything else is great though. Disagree? Email me your own review and it may appear here... |

Voice Carryovers / Incredible Changing Dub /Silent City // Domination Dub / Hour of the Sun / Spy Dub black vinyl Fountain of Youth 20, 1985 Lineup: Dan Joseph - guitar / Don Zinell - drums / Eric Anderson - bass Recording Info: Recorded at Hit and Run by Steve Carr. Produced by Troubled Gardens and Steve Carr. Notes: I'm not sure entirely why this cover scan came out looking so awful. Promo copy w/stamp pictured. Reviews: Oh my. This is...different. Awful, actually--I'm way too tired to be diplomatic. Take one part eighties soft rock, mix in one part dub, one part funk, and a pinch of '80 new wave. Whattaya get? This record! This band is Pell Mell with phased guitar, reverb on everything, and a bass-player who wears a tie. Cripes, I almost make this sound interesting--it ain't, trust me. I get the impression that the band is an instro combo most of the time, but half the songs have guest vocalists, and they're all really bad. Disagree?
